About

We only make books

No mugs, no calendars, no canvases, no phone cases. One product, made properly, priced honestly.

Why this exists

Almost everyone has ten thousand photographs and nothing printed. The reason is rarely money: a softcover book costs about what a set of prints used to. It is that the process is exhausting: download software, fight a template, get told your photo is fine when it is not, and then discover the price only once the book is in a cart behind a countdown timer.

We started photobook.studio to remove each of those individually, and to be specific rather than vague about the things that actually determine whether a printed book is good: how colour is managed, what the paper is, how the spine is built, and whether an image survives the middle of a spread.

Four decisions we made differently

  1. One price, always. A permanent sale against a list price nobody has paid is a lie told with a timer attached. Our prices are on a public page and they do not move in November.
  2. Stop the book rather than ship it blurry. Every photo is measured against the trim size before checkout. Genuinely unprintable ones block the order. We would rather lose the sale than post something you are embarrassed by.
  3. Your layout is yours. Print-ready PDF of anything you make, free while it is in your account, ordered or not. Download it and the book is yours to keep.
  4. Books are made by groups. Weddings, memorials, team seasons, surprise milestone books: all of them need several people to contribute and one person to decide. Share links do exactly that and nothing more.

How the books are made

Books are printed and bound to our specification by production partners chosen per edition and size: Lulu and Prodigi print the bound books on digital presses, and WHCC makes the photographic lay-flat albums. We do not run a press or a bindery ourselves.

We audit them the way we ask you to audit us: by ordering our own books, unannounced, and checking them. Nothing is printed speculatively: a book exists because somebody ordered it.

Who runs it
