Three rules that settle it in a minute
Match the shape of your photos
Mostly phone photos held upright? Portrait. Mostly scenery and group shots? Landscape. A genuine mix, which is nearly everyone: square, because it crops both fairly.
Decide where it will live
A coffee table can carry a 12 × 12. A shelf beside other books wants 8 × 8. Something posted to twelve people wants the 6 × 6 mini, because postage and price both drop.
Stay consistent year to year
If this is going to be an annual book, pick the size once. A shelf of matching spines is the whole reward, and switching in year three ruins it.
